Primal Scream [feat. Kate Moss] - Some Velvet Morning

Primal Scream [feat. Kate Moss] - "Some Velvet Morning". The Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood classic gets an unnecessary update as a duet between Bobby Gillespie and supramodel Kate Moss. Unnecessary? Yes, in the way a Prada foxfur-lined sleeping bag is unnecessary. Completely overindulgent and ridiculous, but undeniably frickin' nice and a lot of fun in just the right circumstances.

With a thumpin' beat, ethereal cooing from Bobby, an indiscernible doubling from Kate [does anyone want to hear her, anyway?], and a octave-oscillating bassline that takes you all the way back to 2003, this track may inspire a tearing-up of the dancefloor, a coke binge, and subsequent visit to rehab! Happy recovery, electrotrash!

Malcolm McLaren - Deep in Vogue

Malcolm McLaren and the House of McLaren - "Deep in Vogue". As my Weekend Bonus I give you an oldie and mostly-unknownie. This is a Malcolm McLaren tune from 1989's "Waltz Darling" single, released during the height of the Harlem drag ball culture immortalized in Paris is Burning. Over a silky house beat, several voices commemorate the most famous New York "houses" [some say that this is where the genre got its name]—LaBeija, Xtravaganza, Magnifigue, Saint Laurent, Omni, Ebony, Duprée.

Who the hell are they? You know, they're somebody when they're in that little ballroom.

P.S. I've already told a couple of you, but this is the easiest way to reach the masses. When I saw Minuhcare's recent posts with the Karl Lagerfeld invite for Big Primpin' and about his exhaustion/DJing/dancing tonight, I thought about how rad it would be if Apple took the iPod several steps further and niche-marketed a folding fan-cum-mp3 player.

Consequently, I retired "opacodex" and switched to a new AIM screen name [be sure to update your Buddy List]:

Does anyone see how that's funny on at least three levels? If not, perhaps you should take a little tutorial at The House of Enigma.
